DEKALB -- A Heuvelton man was jailed May 2 after being charged with felony drug sale.

Shawn M. Kennedy, 25, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony, officers said.

St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies say the investigation began when they were called to a report of an unresponsive male at the intersection of County Route 16 and State Highway 812.

Deputies determined the victim had overdosed on heroin. Officers performed CPR at the scene until EMS personnel arrived.

The victim was treated by EMS with the drug NARCAN and transported to Claxton-Hepburn Hospital, where he was treated and later released.

Kennedy was arrested at the scene and arraigned in Canton Town Court.

He was ordered held on $2,500 bail or $5,000 bond. He is to re-appear on a later date.

Sheriff’s detectives say the investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force and Major Crimes detectives, Rensselaer Falls Rescue, New York State Police, United States Border Patrol K-9 and the St. Lawrence County DA’s Office.
