HERMON — A Hermon man was jailed Saturday after allegedly pulling his girlfriend to the ground by her hair and kicking her multiple times, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Dennis I. LaPoint, Jr., 29, was charged with third-degree assault and two counts of criminal mischief, deputies said.
The alleged domestic dispute took place on Pond Road.
When the victim attempted to call 911 from a house phone, LaPoint ripped the phone off the wall and smashed it on the ground, officers said.
He was arraigned in Canton court and remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $500 bail or $1,000 bond.
He is to answer the charges in court at a later date.
