Hermon artist takes first prize in Ogdensburg art museum juried exhibition

"Portrait of a Young Artist" by Paul Pederson of Hermon won first place.

 "How To Paint Tumbled Stones" by Susan Robinson of Ogdensburg won second place.

OGDENSBURG -- A Hermon artist took first place in the Frederic Remington Museum's 2014 Members' Juried Art Exhibiton.

Paul Pederson's painting "Portrait of a Young Artist" was named best in show.

Second place went to Susan Robinson of Ogdensburg for her piece titled "How To Paint Tumbled Stones."

Third place went to John Elwood Cook for Wellesley Island for his painting "40 Acres."

The pieces were selected by juror Rebekah Wilkins-Pepiton.

The Public's Choice Award went to Betsy Elswit of Ithaca for her woodcarving "Otter."

The she received the most votes of those cast either in-person at the exhibit or online.

Artists submitted 43 works. Those featured in the exhibit also included Marie Adam, Ravinder Agarwal, Garry Bowes, Kathy Braceland, Roy Brash, Bruce Dana, Virginia Dupuis, Shay Dygert, Daniel Elswit, Gregg Fedchak, Lorre Florin, Marion Kratky, Paul Joseph Laberge, Gary Larsen, Richard Margolis, Patrick Mason, Bruce Millen, Pamela Morley, Lynda Naske, Lynne Reichhart, Thomas Robarge, Susan Robinson, Paul Saphier, Eleanor Sweeney, Anne Swiderski, Michiko Taylor, Eric F.
