HANNAWA FALLS -- Helping Hands of Potsdam is building a warehouse to house furniture, appliances, beds, and other items needed to furnish a household.
The 25 by 40 feet structure will be named the Christian P. House Furniture Barn, in memory of Christian House.
Michael Maresca and Barbara Maresca of Hannawa Falls are encouraging residents of St. Lawrence County to donate to the building project. As an incentive, they are matching every dollar given, up to $20,000.
Steve House and Laurie House are encouraging those who are able, to give generously to this project, which will be a lasting legacy to their son.
Helping Hands is the only organization in St Lawrence County providing free furniture, appliances, beds and housewares to all income eligible St. Lawrence County residents. People escaping domestic violence, fire victims and hard working people making minimal wages are among those served by Helping Hands.
Helping Hands also has a food pantry and serves a community lunch four days a week.
Matching grant donations can be made out to "Helping Hands" and mailed to: Helping Hands, P.O. Box 92, Hannawa Falls 13647, please write Christian P. House in the memo.
