HELENA – St. Lawrence County Fire Investigators are looking for the cause of a fire that destroyed a garage today and injured the owner and a firefighter.
The house at 1310 B, County Rt. 53, owned and occupied by Martha Grow, received superficial damage, according to the county fire report.
But the garage was a total loss.
Investigators said the origin of the blaze is still unclear.
The Helena Fire Department received the alarm at 8:16 a.m. today. Tri-Town Rescue also went to the scene, along with Brasher-Winthrop and North Lawrence fire departments. West Stockholm volunteers were on standby.
National Grid was called to the scene, and New York State Police assisted.
Helena volunteers reported back in service at 1:58 p.m.
