CRANBERRY LAKE -- The Northern New York Bassmasters held their 6th tournament of the 2016 season at Cranberry Lake on Aug. 13.
The tournament day brought heavy rains and lightning throughout the day. The team of James Moore, Gouverneur and Doug Kirkbride, Beaver River, rose to the top with a solid 15.79 lb. mixed bag of smallmouth and largemouth to take first place on the day. The first place finish pushed them into the top spot for the team of the year race with 1176 points.
With one tournament left in the regular season, the Kirkbride & Moore team have a slight lead over the second place team of Jessie Spellicy & Tyler Capella of Canton with 1175 points; Brad Paradis & Robert Paradis of Ogdensburg with 1168 points, and Joey Kiah & Jake Garrison of Ogdensburg with 1165 points. The final event takes place on Lake Ontario Sept. 3 to wrap up the regular season before the 2016 Championship.
Rounding out the top 5 winners from Cranberry Lake were
• Second place: Tyler Capella (Canton) with 15.52 lbs,
• Third place: Chuck Roach & Chris Roach (Heuvelton) with 14.57 lbs
• Fourth place: Bill & Albert Redmond (Gouverner) with 13.67 lbs,
• Fifth place: Brad Paradis & Robert Paradis (Ogdensburg) with 13.11 lbs
