The heat index is expected to reach 100 again today in St. Lawrence County, according to the National Weather Service.

Actual temperatures will be just short of 90 degrees.

The high heat index values pose a significant risk for heat stress and heat-related illness for everyone, especially those vulnerable populations without air

conditioning and those spending significant time outdoors. Heat-related illnesses can occur very quickly. Pets are also susceptible to heat illness. Additionally car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Today: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Heat index values as high as 100. Southwest wind 7 to 14 mph. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers before 7am, then a chance of showers after 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Heat index values as high as 90. Southwest wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
