Hazardous weather outlook issued for St. Lawrence County as wintry mix expected to fall

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for St. Lawrence County as icy road conditions are expected today, according to the National Weather Service.

Intermittent periods of mixed wintry precipitation are expected to redevelop this afternoon across the St. Lawrence Valley.

Precipitation amounts are expected to be light and adverse travel impacts are expected to be minimal.

A seven-day forecast follows:

Today: A slight chance of sleet before 1pm, then a chance of freezing rain and sleet between 1pm and 2pm, then freezing rain likely after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Northeast wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. Little or no sleet accumulation expected.

Tonight: Rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 11pm, then a chance of snow between 11pm and 2am. Low around 17. Southwest wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 30. West wind around 11 mph.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around -1. Wind chill values as low as -8. West wind 3 to 8 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 25. Southwest wind 3 to 7 mph.

Tuesday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 40. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Southwest wind around 11 mph.

Thursday: A chance of snow showers before 9am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 9am and 10am, then a chance of rain showers after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Southwest wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
