A hazardous weather warning has been issued for St. Lawrence County as slippery road conditions are expected this afternoon and Thursday morning.
Light snow, sleet and freezing rain are in the forecast, according to the national weather service.
The weather service is advising drivers to take extra time as slippery roads and limited visibilities will cause travel difficulties.
Today
A slight chance of snow and sleet before 2pm, then a chance of snow between 2pm and 3pm, then a chance of snow and sleet after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 18. Light northeast wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tonight
Freezing rain and sleet likely before 2am, then a chance of snow and sleet between 2am and 3am, then a chance of freezing rain and sleet after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 15. Northeast wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Thursday
A chance of freezing rain and sleet before 1pm, then a slight chance of rain between 1pm and 5pm, then a slight chance of freezing rain after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 38. Northeast wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no sleet accumulation expected.
