Hazardous weather outlook posted for North Country with two Arctic blasts coming in

The National Weather Service has posted a hazardous weather outlook for the North Country, warning of two Arctic blasts headed our way, and a little bit of snow.

The NWS says that an Arctic cold front will bring scattered snow showers to the North Country late tonight into Saturday morning. The snow won’t amount to much, but brief low visibility in snow and falling temperatures will result in a few slick spots on untreated roads, bridges and sidewalks late tonight into Saturday morning.

A second surge of Arctic air will push southward into the North Country on Sunday. The forecasters think that air mass won’t be quite as cold as previously anticipated. That said, northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph will contribute to very low wind chill values of 10 to 20 below. Those planning to take part in outdoor activities on Sunday should dress warmly and in layers for the very low wind chill conditions, the NWS advises.

The temperature might not reach 20 tomorrow, and it gets colder Saturday night, with lows in the single digits below zero, but wind chill values taking away another 10 degrees.

High will be in the teens Sunday, and some snow showers might make it through partly sunny skies. Sunday night, a small chance of snow remains, with single-digit lows.

Monday through Thursday, things return to closer to average for this winter, with daytime highs from the upper 20s to near 40.
