Hazardous weather outlook issued for Christmas weekend in St. Lawrence County

St. Lawrence County could get hit with 2 to 5 inches of snow between Thursday and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

“Another round of wintry precipitation is likely late Friday Night into Saturday with some ice accumulation possible, especially over the Saint Lawrence Valley and portions of central and eastern Vermont,” according to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the weather service.

Areas of difficult travel can be expected on Saturday.

On Christmas Day more snow is possible as low pressure develops along the East Coast. There is still plenty of uncertainty on the exact track and potential impacts across our region.

This Afternoon: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Northwest wind 9 to 13 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 5. Wind chill values as low as -3. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 17. Wind chill values as low as -2. Light west wind.

Thursday Night: Snow likely, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9. Wind chill values as low as -2. Northeast wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday: Snow. High near 22. East wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Friday Night: Snow likely, mainly before 8pm. Cloudy, with a low around 18. East wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Saturday: Snow likely before 2pm, then a chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a high near 33. Southeast wind 8 to 13 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. West wind 8 to 14 mph.
