A brief thaw over the weekend has left sidewalks and side roads in much of St. Lawrence County in dismal condition as the remnants of last week's ice storm remain.
For people walking, many areas are covered with glare ice.
Icy patches have left many of the roads rough and slippery and the National Weather Service has posted a hazardous weather outlook for Massena, Star Lake, Ogdensburg and Gouverneur as flash freezing conditions remain possible.
The thaw also caused damage to some St. Lawrence County homes as falling ice took off chimney pipes and damaged siding.
Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing throughout the week, according to the National Weather Service.
