Hazardous Weather Advisory: High winds and freezing rain expected throughout the day in St. Lawrence County

A wind advisory, special weather statement and hazardous weather outlook are in effect in St. Lawrence County.

The National Weather service said winds gusts as strong as 50 mph could bring down small to medium size tree limbs and create power outages.

The high winds are expected to arrive around 1 p.m. and dissipate by 10 p.m.

Freezing rain is also expected to fall throughout the day.

Approximately one-inch of ice has already accumulated in parts of St. Lawrence County.

Slick road conditions are expected as temperatures rise into the mid 40s.

A seven day forecast follows:

Today: Showers before noon, then drizzle likely, mainly between noon and 3pm. High near 44. Windy, with a light and variable wind becoming southwest 23 to 28 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tonight: A chance of rain and snow showers before 11pm, then a chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 8. Wind chill values as low as zero. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday: Partly sunny and cold, with a temperature falling to around 1 by 10am. Wind chill values as low as -18. West wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around -5. Wind chill values as low as -20. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.

Tuesday: Snow showers likely, mainly after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 17. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 9. Light and variable wind.

Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 13. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around -16. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 11. Southwest wind around 9 mph.

Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 11. Southwest wind around 11 mph.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 18. West wind around 11 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -2. West wind 7 to 11 mph.
