RUSSELL -- One person was injured and three children were transported to the hospital following a one-vehicle accident at 10:08 p.m. Sunday on Pestle Street Road near Pleasant Street.
Canton-based state police said Julie L. Sharlow, 32, of Harrisville was driving the vehicle when she exited the roadway, traveled down an embankment and hit a tree head on.
Troopers said Sharlow was taken to the hospital with injuries that did not appear to be major.
Three children were also taken to the hospital, but were not injured.
Troopers said the children were taken as a precautionary measure because they lacked a proper supervisor following the accident.
Troopers said Sharlow may have suffered a medical emergency that caused her to leave the roadway, but details were not available.
