CANTON -- A Harrisville woman was arrested for allegedly receiving $21,243 in food stamp and HEAP benefits that she was not entitled to, according to the St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department.
Chantelle M. Woods, 44, 6 Greenwood Falls Rd., was charged with a felony count of third degree welfare fraud, and two counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, felonies, deputies said.
It is alleged Woods knowingly submitted food stamp and HEAP applications that contained false information for the period of Oct. 1 2008 through Sept. 30, 2011, said deputies.
Woods was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court and ordered held in the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, without bail, according to deputies.
