POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Charity Hankfest Group donated $700 to the Potsdam Public Library from the proceeds of this year’s concert held Saturday, Aug. 9.

The Hankfest Group annually organizes a fun musical afternoon in Potsdam to raise funds for a local charity or organization. This year, the 9th Annual Hankfest was in the Sandstoner Park pavilion near the Pine Street Arena and beach.

The crowd enjoyed the music, door prizes, 50/50 raffle, the Patsy Cline trivia, food provided by The Grub Tub, and the vendors.

The organizers and crowd loved the location, which was new to the event this year. “We hope to continue to hold the event at Sandstoner Park in the future,” said Colleen Oshier, the group’s music director.

“We wish to thank all 30 businesses that donated items for the door prizes,” said Hankfest founder Gregory Bouchard, “We also thank the great musicians that donated their talent to our event. We couldn’t do it without them.”

The proceeds of this year’s event went to the Potsdam Public Library, which Library Director Patricia Musante said they appreciated. She said the money would be put toward the children’s collection and to replace some of the worn out children’s furniture.

Bouchard wanted to give credit to two donors, the Clarkson Inn and SeaComm Federal Credit Union, whose donations helped make this year’s Hankfest the most successful to date.
