HAMMOND -- A Hammond woman who was killed Thursday in accident while riding her bike on Route 3, died from multiple fractures and blunt force trauma, according to an autopsy report.
Investigators say a 2008 Chevrolet pick-up truck operated by Bernard A. Martin, 60, of Hammond was eastbound on County Route 3 when he failed to see Christine Nash, 60, riding her bicycle in the eastbound lane of the roadway.
The front of Martin’s vehicle struck the rear tire of Nash’s bicycle. Nash was ejected from her bicycle, onto the roadway.
Nash sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by St. Lawrence County Coroner Kevin Crosby.
On Aug. 13, 2015, an autopsy was performed at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center in the City of Ogdensburg.
Dr. Samuel Livingstone determined the cause of death to be multiple fractures and blunt force trauma. Coroner Crosby ruled the manner of death to be accidental.
