HAMMOND – A Hammond man was held Sunday after being charged with illegally discharging a firearm, according to state police.

Francis J. Ferguson, 20, was arrested at 12:40 p.m. at 5 N. Main St. and charged with illegally discharging a firearm, second degree menacing-weapon, and fourth degree possession of a weapon, police said.

He was arrested following an investigation prompted by a complaint of gunshots being fire received at 11:05 p.m. Saturday, police said.
