OGDENSBURG -- National Guard Third Platoon Bravo Company recently conducted a 5-mile tactical road march, stopping along the route to hand out five frozen turkeys that were donated by Price Chopper and Wal-Mart of Ogdensburg, according to a release from the National Guard.
An infantry soldier’s rucksack usually weighs in at 35 to 45 pounds and contains only the essentials for several days in the field; carried on their backs over rough terrain often for miles at a time but a 15-pound frozen turkey was a welcome addition to their packing list.
