A bill to ban the sale, manufacture, possession and distribution in New York of hallucinogens masquerading as bath salts has received final legislative approval in Albany with passage in the Senate.
Senator Joseph Griffo (R-IP-C, Rome), who developed the bill, called the action a victory for the health of New York State residents.
These “bath salts” are a dangerous series of chemicals that cause extreme paranoia, hallucinations, delusions, agitation, hypertension, chest pain, headache, and suicidal thoughts when smoked, snorted or injected, Griffo said.
The legislation now goes to Governor Andrew Cuomo for his signature.
