A break in the grey, wet weather in the North Country is approaching, but not for a few days, the National Weather Service says.

Light rain and snow showers will continue in the St. Lawrence Valley and the Adirondacks today with temperatures warming into the upper 30s to lower 40s.

A chance of rain and snow showers is expected through Friday with daytime highs around 40 and overnight lows around the freezing mark. The weather service says “plowable” wet snow accumulation is expected in the mountains Thursday into Friday.

A break will come Friday night as skies clear and daytime temperatures begin to rise, into the mid to upper 40s on Saturday and the 50s on Sunday. The forecast calls for temperatures to rise further, to near 60 on Monday and Tuesday under sunny skies.
