CANTON -- Green Party congressional candidate Matt Funiciello is making his first campaign stop in St. Lawrence County on Wednesday with a visit to Canton.
Funiciello, a baker from Glens Falls, will attend this year’s New York State Senior Action Council Seniorama at SUNY Canton's Roos House from 10 a.m. to noon.
Afterwards Funiciello will visit the NCPR studio and tour Canton-Potsdam area businesses with supporters.
Funiciello is hoping to win the 21st District seat to represent the North Country in Congress.
His opponents are Democrat Aaron Woolf, a documentary filmmaker from Brooklyn and Elizabethtown, and Republican Elise Stefanik, who, after working in several capacities for Republicans in Washington, came to live in the North Country community of Willsboro to work in her family’s plywood business in Albany County and to run for Congress.
Incumbent Rep. Bill Owens, a Democrat from Plattsburgh, is not running again.
