POTSDAM -- A Potsdam Grammy-nominated flute player has released a new album.
Peter Phippen, who grew up in upstate New York, is a Grammy Award nominee, Native American Music Award nominee, and most recently, an International Acoustic Music Award nominee.
He is accompanied by Rahbi Crawford on his new musical endeavor.
Phippen and Crawford (antique bamboo flutes and singing bowls, respectively) conjure free flowing, hypnotic and healing improvisations that are both earthy and impressionistic. Listeners are invited to drift away upon the currents of these beautiful, haunting and deeply heartfelt atmospheres.
Phippen is a world flute specialist, recording artist, and producer.
As a classically-trained music teacher and conductor, Crawford holds two master’s degrees - one in music education and the other in choral conducting. She has studied sacred scriptures and texts.
