Gov. Andrew Cuomo has recruited leaders in Massena, Canton and Potsdam in the “Enough is Enough” campaign to combat sexual violence on college campuses.
The governor’s office today released a list of 103 elected officials from across the state whom the press release says have joined the campaign. That is on top of the 40 officials whose support he cited last week.
Massena Mayor Tim Currier, Canton Town Supervisor David Button, and Potsdam Town Supervisor Marie Regan are on the list of local officials supporting him in an attempt to create the strongest protections in the country for college students, codifying uniform sexual assault prevention and response protocols for all colleges and universities, public and private, in the state.
"Sexual assault on college and university campuses is a nationwide epidemic, and New York should lead the way to change how our schools protect their students from it and respond to it," Cuomo said, adding that he is calling on New Yorkers to take the strongest possible stand against sexual assault on our campuses, and the time to do it is now.”
