Gov. Andrew Cuomo has proclaimed the week of Sept. 16 to be Sheriff’s Week in New York State. Sheriff’s Week celebrates the contributions of the office of sheriff in county government and in the statewide criminal justice system.
The theme for this years’ celebration is: “Your Sheriff…The People’s Choice for Public Safety,” emphasizing the fact that 55 of New York State’s 58 sheriffs are elected by the people.
The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office provides traditional police services, such as road patrol, criminal investigation, and maintaining the county jail, and Sex Offender Registry.
