GOUVERNEUR -- A water conservation notice that was issued Sept. 14 for the village and surrounding water districts has been lifted.
Work on the water tower has been completed and all water samples have produced satisfactory results, according to an announcement from the village.
The order was in effect for the village and the east and west side water districts in the town.
“The Village Board of Trustees wishes to thank all residents that were mindful of water conservation during these past few weeks,” the announcement said. “We appreciate your cooperation.”
A worker at the Department of Public Works office said the water tower was taken out of service while the company that services the tank was doing some five-year warranty work.
While the tower was out of service, the water was pumped directly into the service lines.
