GOUVERNEUR – New York State Police in Gouverneur arrested Madeline E. George, 28, and Angel J. George, 30, both of Gouverneur, allegedly for falsely reporting a burglary in January last year.
The official charges were making a punishable false written statement, falsely reporting an incident 3rd degree, and conspiracy 6th degree.
Troopers say the arrests stem from a burglary from what was then the residence of Madeline George at 208 Quarry Rd., Gouverneur, reported in January 2010.
Both Georges reported personal items stolen from the house at the time.
The state police say their investigation resulted in both individuals admitting the items were not stolen, but sold.
They also admitted they reported the burglary to rid their financial obligation to rental business Easy Home of Potsdam, troopers said.
The investigation resulted in the recovery of many of the items.
Both Georges were issued appearance tickets returnable to Town of Gouverneur Court on March 3.
