OGDENSBURG – A Gouverneur woman was jailed Thursday after intentionally setting a fire on a porch of an apartment on East Main Street on June 9, according to Gouverneur police.

Police say Mary E. McIntosh, 49, caused damaged to a porch of an apartment house after lighting a piece of paper on fire, placing it on a gasoline can which also caught fire, officers said.

The fire caused damaged to the floor and did so while other tenants were inside the dwelling, police said.

McIntosh was charged with second-degree arson and arraigned in Gouverneur court before Justice Travis Dann.

She was remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail on $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond, officers said.
