OSWEGATCHIE -- Tayler C. Bowden, 24, 78 W. Barney St., Gouverneur, was charged Sunday with driving while intoxicated and allegedly striking a pedestrian then leaving the scene, according to the St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Office.

The charges came after investigation of a personal injury accident on State Highway 68 in the Town of Oswegatchie where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while walking alongside the road.

Deputies said Bowden was the driver, and she left the scene.

Her vehicle was stopped in Canton by the New York State Police.

Bowden refused a roadside field sobriety test, and later refused to submit a chemical test of her breath, deputies said.

Bowden was also charged with reckless driving, third-degree assault, moving from lane unsafely, and operation out of ignition interlock restriction.

The pedestrian suffered minor injuries as a result of the accident, deputies said.

Bowden was arraigned in Morristown Town Court and released to probation. She is to reappear in Oswegatchie Town Court at a later date.
