GOUVERNEUR — A Gouverneur woman was jailed Thursday on meth charges following an investigation by Gouverneur police and St. Lawrence County Child Protective Services.
Melissa S. Rider, 28, was arrested at 10:20 p.m. at 311 West Main St. and charged with third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and three counts endangering the welfare of a child.
Police were asked to accompany CPS workers during welfare check and based upon that investigation and subsequent search warrant it was determined that Rider was in possession of several precursors for manufacturing methamphetamine, troopers said.
She possessed these items while three children were in the residence, officers said. Rider was arraigned at Gouverneur court before Justice Travis Dann and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $2,500 bail or $5,000 bond.
Gouverneur Police were assisted on scene by the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force, state police, and the NYSP Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team.
