GOUVERNEUR -- A pair of Gouverneur residents was arrested last Friday after allegedly taking a police duty bag that had been left in front of the police station, according to Gouverneur police.
Shawn R. Fenton, 48, and Georgia M. Duprey, 58, were charged at 11:30 p.m. at 39 Clinton St. for petit larceny.
The duo reportedly found the bag in front of the police station and failed to notify or return the bag to police.
“The bag contained miscellaneous items like forms, extra gloves a traffic safety vests,” according to Gouverneur Police Chief Laurina Greenhill. “I am not sure exactly everything that was in the bag because officers carry a variety of items depending on the weather like hats and raincoats.”
The subjects reportedly had possession of the bag for more than six hours when a police investigation led to their apartment where they were found in possession of the bag and arrested.
Fenton and Duprey were arraigned before Town of Gouverneur Court Justice Stan Young and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 bail, police said.
