GOUVERNEUR – Two Gouverneur residents were jailed Thursday for allegedly assaulting a 10-month-old baby causing injury to the child, according to Gouverneur police.
Richard L. Cyrus, 24, and Bobbie S. Prashaw, 29 were arrested at 4:37 p.m. at a Wall Street residence and charged with second-degree assault second and endangering the welfare of a child as a result of the complaint received Aug. 18.
Cyrus and Prashaw are accused of repeatedly hitting a 10-month-old child with their open hands on the child’s legs and upper buttocks causing physical injury, police said.
The child victim was left in their care over the course of a three-day period, officers said.
Both were arraigned before Justice Stan Young at the Gouverneur Town Court and ordered held at the SLCCF in lieu of $20,000 cash/$40,000 bond bail.
