GOUVERNEUR -- Businesses based in Gouverneur and Ogdensburg, along with a business with a Potsdam branch, have been awarded contracts totaling more than $1.6 million for construction planned at the Gouverneur Correctional Facility.
The state Office of General Services selected Continental Construction of Gouverneur, Dow Electric of Malone, Empire Northeast of Gouverneur and Skelly Contractors of Ogdensburg to work on the upcoming project.
Continental Construction, with a bid of more than $1.19 million, will perform the construction work at the correctional facility, according to officials at the general services office.
Dow Electric, which has a Potsdam office, will provide the electrical work, officials said. Dow bid $324,500
Empire Northeast will provide heating and ventilation work at a cost of $47,900, according to general service office staffers.
Skelly Contractors is slated to provide plumbing work for $57,942, staffers said.
The businesses’ contracts will be finalized after review and approval by the state comptroller's office.
