OGDENSBURG -- The Society of the United Helpers recently granted three high school seniors the Helen S. Randles Scholarship Award.

Lindsey P. McCormick from Gouverneur Central School in Gouverneur; Makenzi L. Stevenson from Ogdensburg Free Academy in Ogdensburg; and Miranda R. Dodge from Brasher Falls Central School in Brasher Falls all won scholarships.

These scholarships are made possible through an endowment by Helen S. Randles, who served United Helpers for 45 years, including terms as president of several boards.

“Helen Randles appreciated the value of education and the importance of the field of health care and she would be very pleased with this year’s recipients,” said Scholarship Committee Member Betty J. Mallott.

Lindsey McCormick will graduate from Gouverneur Central School where she took college courses in calculus, expository writing, and psychology. She also interned as a physical therapist during her study halls and took AP Biology. She will attend Clarkson University in the fall, majoring in biology with plans to become a physical therapist.

Makenzi L. Stevenson will graduate from Ogdensburg Free Academy where she has taken AP courses in English, biology, U.S. history and calculus, and college courses in pre-calculus, statistics, and Spanish. She will attend Le Moyne College in the fall, majoring in biology/biomedical science with plans to attain a career in biology/pre-med.

Miranda R. Dodge will graduate from Brasher Falls Central School where she has taken AP English and high school health, as well as college courses in biology and Spanish 3, 4, and 5. She will attend SUNY Potsdam in the fall, majoring in clinical psychology with plans on pursuing a career in the mental health field.
