GOUVERNEUR -- Mayor Ronald McDougall says he believes Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposed child care tax credit will give many taxpayers some relief.
“It can cost upwards of hundreds of dollars a week to put one child in daycare and working class families simply can’t afford that,” said McDougall, a Democrat. “Thankfully, hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers will finally see some relief under Governor Cuomo’s plan to expand the New York Child and Dependent Care credit,” he said in a press release.
Cuomo’s proposal, called the Enhanced Middle Class Child Care Tax Credit, would supplement the current Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit and more than double the benefit for families earning between $60,000 and $150,000.
“He’s not only showing that he understands the struggle so many New Yorkers face,” McDougall said, “but has once again demonstrated tremendous leadership in helping find a common sense solution to a problem that has affects so many families.”
