GOUVERNEUR -- A Gouverneur man was jailed Jan. 31 for allegedly striking his girlfriend in the face with a broomstick and punching a male in the face in front of two children, according to Gouverneur police.
Benjamin D. Facey, 24, was charged at 10:35 a.m. with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, second-degree harassment, disorderly conduct and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said the altercation, which spilled into West Street, started in a residence on Johnstown Street where Facey is alleged to have struck his girlfriend in the face with a broomstick causing her to suffer an injury.
Facey also assaulted a male subject by punching him in the face and also pushed a female into a washing machine, officers said.
This all allegedly occurred in front of two children.
Facey was arraigned in Gouverneur Town Court before Justice Dixon and held at the St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
He is to appear in Gouverneur Town Court at a later date.
