GOUVERNEUR -- A Gouverneur man is charged with multiple burglary counts in connection with break-ins in September, October and December.
Two of those counts involved two break-ins at the Gouverneur Elks’ Lodge.
Those two break-ins were reported to troopers on Sept. 14 and Sept. 29. The first time, money stolen from a safe, and the second time, the safe was stolen by way of forced entry through a window, troopers said.
On Oct. 18, tools were stolen from a garage at 1464 County Rt. 12 in Gouverneur. There was no forced entry, troopers said.
On Oct. 26, a forced entry was made through a back door at Spillman’s Garage, Rt. 58, Gouverneur. Troopers say an assortment of items was stolen including a cash register, an undetermined amount of cash, and several old coins of unknown value dating from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s.
Approximately $400 in cash was taken from a residence at 1475 County Rt. 12, Gouverneur, on Dec. 10.
Daniels was arraigned Thursday in Town of Gouverneur Court by Town Justice Stanley Young. Daniels was remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
He is to appear in Town of Gouverneur Court on Jan. 4 at 3 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.
State police were assisted by Gouverneur police, who themselves had open cases possibly involving Daniels, troopers said.
