GOUVERNEUR — A Gouverneur man was jailed after allegedly biting and choking another person during a domestic violence incident, according to Gouverneur police.

Tyler S. King, 24, was arrested April 20 at 10:27 a.m. at a Sleepy Hollow Road residence and charged with first-degree criminal contempt, second-degree criminal obstruction of breathing and third-degree assault, officers said.

King is alleged to have grabbed the victim by the throat, bit the victim on the nose and when the victim tried to call for help, and held his hand over the victim’s mouth preventing the victim from breathing, police said.

The defendant was also a respondent of a “refrain from” order of protection requiring he not commit any offenses against the victim, according to police.

The victim suffered lacerations to the nose and significant bruising to the face and neck and required medical attention, police said.

King was arraigned before Justice Travis Dann and ordered held at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail.
