GOUVERNEUR -- Village police say a Gouverneur man is jailed following a domestic violence incident where he is accused of strangling a teenager.
Michael Flores, 34, was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and two counts each of child endangerment and fourth-degree criminal mischief, all misdemeanors.
Police said on Jan. 8, he got into an argument with a 16-year-old female. He allegedly grabbed her by the throat, leaving her unable to breathe for several seconds. This allegedly happened in front of a 14-year-old. Flores is also accused of damaging their cell phones.
He was arraigned by Gouverneur Town Justice Travis Dann and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, in lieu of $500 bail or $1,000 bond, police said.
