GOUVERNEUR — A Gouverneur man was jailed Aug. 5 after allegedly threatening two people with a shotgun during an argument on Sleepy Hollow Road, according to Gouverneur police.

William G. Hayden, 55, was charged with second-degree menacing for intentionally placing another person in reasonable fear of physical injury, serious physical injury or death by displaying and a loaded Mossberg .410 shotgun following an argument with a neighbor and a person within his apartment, police said.

Hayden displayed and pointed the weapon at the victims while he was on his apartment balcony, officers said.

He was arraigned in Gouverneur court and sent to St. Lawrence County Jail on $2,500 bail, police said.
