FOWLER -- A Gouverneur man was jailed on $10,000 bail on criminal contempt charges for violating a stay-away order May 12.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies said Joshua J. Phippins was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and aggravated family offense after he was pulled over in Fowler.
Phippins allegedly had a female passenger in his vehicle, who had a stay away order of protection against him.
Phippins had a 2012 conviction for criminal contempt. Because of the previous offense the charges were elevated to felonies.
He was sent to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail.
