GOUVERNUER – A Gouverneur man was arrested Sunday afternoon following a complaint of child abuse in which he allegedly injured a four-month-old infant, according to state police.
Canton-based troopers say they charged Christopher N. Gerthoffer, 29, with a felony count of assault for allegedly causing injury to a child under seven years old, and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Gerthoffer was arraigned in Town of Gouverenur Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail, $40,000 bond.
Gerthoffer is to reappear in Town of Gouverneur Court on Feb. 26 at 10:30 a.m.
