CANTON -- A Gouverneur man is facing several counts after allegedly side-swiping a police car who attempted to pull him over for driving on a sidewalk.
Justin M. McIntyre, 24, is charged at 12:38 a.m. Saturday with aggravated driving while intoxicated, first-offense DWI, driving a motor vehicle on a sidewalk, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, no inspection and no registration.
That night, police spotted McIntyre driving on a sidewalk opposite from Coakley’s hardware that leads to the SUNY Canton campus, Chief James Santamaw said. Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over and it sideswiped the patrol car in the process, the chief said.
McIntyre was pulled over a short time later on Gouverneur Street and allegedly registered a .22 blood alcohol level on a breath test, according to Santimaw.
He said the patrol car sustained minor scratches that he believes can be buffed out.
McIntyre was charged and released with orders to appear in Canton Town Court on Nov. 15, police said.
