CANTON – A Gouverneur man was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child in connection with his wife’s arrest for rape of a 13-year-old.
Kevin K. Matott, 39, 149 River Rd., and his wife, Amanda Matott were both charged by Canton police with unlawfully dealing with a child for allegedly giving the minor alcohol.
Amanda Matott, 23, is also accused of having sexual relations with the child. She has been charged with second-degree rape and second-degree sexual abuse.
Kevin Matott was released on an appearance ticket for Canton Town Court on Aug. 28.
The Canton Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services Child Protective Unit.
After a month-long investigation, Amanda Matott was charged last Friday with rape and was sent to the county jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond.
