GOUVERNEUR – A Gouverneur man was arrested early Friday morning after he allegedly punched his 20 year-old girlfriend in the face which sent her to the hospital, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Donald D. Whiteford II, 21, was charged at 2:30 a.m. with third-degree assault, officers said.
Deputies allege Whiteford punched the victim in the right eye with a closed fist causing a large bruise, red marks and swelling.
She was treated at Gouverneur Hospital for her injuries.
Whiteford was arraigned in Gouverneur Town Court by Judge Young and released under the supervision of probation, deputies said.
A no contact order of protection was reportedly issued in favor of the victim.
