GOUVERNEUR -- A Gouverneur man was charged Thursday after abandoning three vehicles on Spencer Street, which violated a court order, according to Gouverneur police.
Stanley W. Belmore, 74, was charged at 9 a.m. with second-degree criminal contempt and three counts of abandoning a vehicle.
Belmore allegedly abandoned three unregistered motor vehicles along Spencer Street.
He is accused of violating a court order that was issued by the Gouverneur court as the result of previous code enforcement and local junk law violations, officers said.
The order required cleanup of his property on Smith Street and that Belmore not move junk from the Smith Street property to the Spencer Street property or any other property within the village.
Police said Belmore allegedly moved junk vehicles from the Smith Street property to a Spencer Street property, which was a violation of the order.
He was arraigned in Gouverneur court before Justice Stan Young and released on his own recognizance to appear at a later date.
