GOUVERNEUR -- Village police charged a Gouverneur man with several counts after allegedly hitting a school crossing guard and leaving the scene.
Bill L. Hiscock, 45, was charged at 1:34 p.m. Jan. 6 with leaving the scene of personal injury accident, failure to comply with lawful order flag person, failure to keep right and operating without insurance.
The alleged incident happened around 2:30 p.m. Jan. 5, while students were being dismissed from the Gouverneur Junior/Senior High School. Hiscock was traveling east on East Barney Street when he approached a school crossing at the intersection of with Caroline Street.
Police say Hiscock disregarded the school crossing guard’s direction and struck her in the hip as he drove by and left the scene, causing minor injury.
Upon investigation that led police to Hiscock, he refused to provide vehicle insurance information, according to police.
He was issued traffic summonses returnable to the Gouverneur Town Court.
