GOUVERNEUR -- The Gouverneur Hospital’s Our Future is Bright fundraising Capital Campaign for the Emergency Department successfully raised over $688,000.
The Campaign Committee members were Chris Betrus, Kim Halpin, Dan Caruso, Joe Laurenza, Bridget LaPierre, Joe Pistolesi, Marilyn Scozzafava, Nort Taylor, and Campaign Coordinator Bonnie Porter.
“The success of this campaign is a testament to the Gouverneur community who gave generously in support of these critical renovations and, as a result, have provided our patients the privacy they deserve and our doctors and nurses the space they require to do their best work,” commented David Bender, CEO.
The $2.3 million expansion/renovation opened in mid-December and includes seven patient rooms, each equipped with a cardiac monitor and designed for patient privacy and comfort. A new triage area, central nurses station, separate waiting room area, new bathroom facilities, upgraded equipment and other improvements, were also a part of the project.
Board Chairman Mike Burgess commented, “On behalf of the Board of Trustees we would like to extend a special thank you to the Campaign Committee, who thru their collective hard work exceeded the goal that was established. The Committee coordinated fundraising efforts and also reached out individually to potential donors to meet the goal.”
“Our patients are now able to access modern emergency care in a modern facility. There’s a benefit and comfort to receiving treatment in your community, and we are grateful to the many people who contributed to make this happen for Gouverneur,” states Nurse Manager Jay Moore.
