GOUVERNEUR – A Gouverneur gravel pit owner was pinned inside the cab of his front-end loader this morning and is now in a Syracuse hospital.
Ronald J. Stiles, 62, of Putney Road, Rensselaer Falls, was loading sand onto a sand and gravel conveyor when it tipped back and crushed the cab of the loader, pinning him in it.
Gouverneur Fire and Rescue and Richville Fire all responded to the Stiles Sand and Gravel Pit, off of the Scotch Settlement Road in the Town of Gouverneur.
Emergency personnel, using their extraction equipment, got Stiles out of the cab.
Stiles was airlifted to University Medical Center in Syracuse, were he is being treated for internal injuries, according to Gouverneuer-based state police.
Troopers said they received the call at 10:45 a.m. today.
