GOUVERNEUR -- The Village of Gouverneur will get $841,500 to for its wastewater disinfection plant project, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The grant is part of $39.5 million in state funding to support 134 municipal and regional projects statewide.
“Pollution can have devastating effects on our environment, including damaging critical habitats that provide natural defenses against storm surges and sea level rise,” Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens said. “This latest round of Water Quality Improvement Program grants is another example of ... commitment to building productive partnerships with local communities to better protect and restore our environment.”
Projects eligible under the Water Quality Improvement Program include municipal wastewater treatment, municipal separate storm sewer systems, polluted runoff abatement and control from non-farm sources and aquatic habitat restoration. Award recipients may be reimbursed for up to 85 percent of the total project costs cost, Cuomo said.
